A new Sense charity store has opened its doors in Hereford city centre with all proceeds benefitting children and adults with complex disabilities. The Sense shop is located on Eign Gate, and sells a range of goods including ladieswear, menswear, homeware and children’s toys.
The store hopes to be a community hub to bring people together and tackle loneliness. Sense’s research has found more than 53 per cent of people with complex disabilities often or always feel lonely, in comparison to 25 per cent of the general population.
The shop is looking for volunteers from all walks of life who can spare a few hours a week to join their friendly team. The benefits of volunteering include making new friends and learning new skills.
Hereford locals can also help the Sense shop by donating items to the shop during its opening hours of 9am to 5pm Monday through Saturday and 10am to 4pm Sunday.
Katy Scourfield, Sense area manager, said:
“We’re so pleased to have opened a new Sense shop in Hereford, and we’ve already had a great reception from the public.
“Sense’s mission is to make sure nobody is left out of life, no matter how complex their disabilities. We hope everyone living in Hereford will really get behind our mission and support everything the shop stands for.
“Please come into the shop to say hi, and if you’ve got any goods to donate or time to spare as a volunteer, we appreciate it so much.”
