A POPULAR Hereford restaurant will not be reopening as lockdown eases, the owners have confirmed.
Turkish restaurant The Meze, in Hereford’s West Street, became a popular venue after starting life as a concession in Hereford’s Butter Market.
Run by couple Esat and Amber Kurt, the business made the move to its own premises in July 2019.
But in an announcement on social media, the couple have confirmed they will not be reopening their doors to customers.
“We are very sad to say that The Meze will not be able to reopen,” the announcement read.
“This is mostly due to the pandemic our location but also to our health. We are very grateful to all our customers followers who supported us during our family venture. Thank you and God bless you all.”
Many fans of the restaurant’s Turkish fare have left messages of support for the family.
Among them was Anna Kate, who wrote: “I am really sorry to hear that. We’ve had some wonderful meals, birthdays and celebrations with you. Wishing you all the best for the future x.”
And Tim O’Rourke wrote: “So sad I’ll miss all the friendly staff and the very very very good food, you will be sadly missed.”
