Work has recommenced on the completion of 90 affordable homes in Herefordshire after leading social housing provider Stonewater entered into contract with Edenstone Group.
The Madley Road site, in Clehonger, is the second development in the area that the organisations are partnering on. Edenstone are currently building 120 affordable homes at the nearby College Road site in Hereford.
Edenstone has over 20 years of experience delivering high-quality homes and will first focus on finishing those nearest completion so customers can begin moving in as soon as possible.
Once completed, the new homes will be offered to people in the local community, with a range of tenures available.
The homes will all achieve a minimum ‘B’ Energy Performance Certificate rating to help keep ongoing running costs affordable and residents will also benefit from a number of outdoor spaces across the development, including a revived orchard, a space for shrub planting, a wildflower meadow and a natural play area.
Matthew Crucefix, Director of Development (West & South West) at Stonewater, said: “I’m delighted to see work restart on 90 much-needed affordable homes in Clehonger. It has been frustrating to not be able to complete these homes sooner but I’m sure the customers that will start to move in over the coming months will be pleased with their new homes.
“We’re particularly pleased to be working with Edenstone to complete this scheme. They have decades of experience in delivering high-quality homes across the South West of England and South Wales.”
Glyn Mabey, Edenstone Group Chief Executive, said: “We are delighted to enter into this second development agreement with Stonewater and are committed to delivering quality homes at the development.
“We look forward to delivering the development, including the new play area, and providing families with a fantastic place to call home.”
Stonewater anticipates to have some of the homes handed over within the next few months, progressing into phased handovers. The development is expected to be completed by February 2026.
