Parks homes plan for Madley near Hereford

The application by H Chalfon Ltd of West Sussex seeks outline permission for a “high-quality, small but exclusive holiday lodge park” down a lane in Madley, six miles west of the city.

The company proposes that these would be pre-built, two-bedroom Foresters Lodges in cedar finish, supplied by Northampton-based Prestige, but said it was “open to discussion” on the design.

One of the 12 would serve as reception and also a manager’s office and accommodation, though this would not be permanently occupied.

It said pre-application advice from council officials was that its original proposal for 22 lodges “was too dense and required to be scaled back significantly”.

The 1.4-hectare site was previously farmland but has been disused for some time and has reverted to scrub and woodland.

The access road from Brampton Road in the village would “require improvements” and would be widened.

Comments on the planning application, numbered 230636, can be made until December 30.
